That awkward moment

October 30, 2013 § 1 Comment

Get ready for the most judgmental post you’ll have of me.

Sometimes I get musical ‘cravings’ depending on seasons, mostly. There are songs and albums I would listen to during particular times of the year, and behold, my musical craving right now is… drumroll…

The Twilight soundtracks.

I’ve listened to these albums all over the place – Europe while studying abroad, my college dorm rooms, my room at my parents house, and it all started in fall of 2008 when I marathoned reading the books instead of studying for my finals. It’s a fall sound to me, and well, we’re dead in the heart of it.

So many great bands have collaborated on songs for these movies, which has become my favorite element of the phenomenon.

Such bands are:

Iron & Wine
Death Cab
Thom Yorke
Lykke Li
Bon Iver
St. Vincent
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Grizzly Bear
The Bravery
Florence and the Machine
The Black Keys
Vampire Weekend

and many others I’ve discovered due to this introduction. I get a lot of stares from friends and strangers around me, but my musical taste is damn respectable, you all can suck it. Unless you’ve given all 5 of the albums a chance, I won’t hear it from you.

A moment of redemption:

I watched ‘Let The Right One In’ this weekend (the Swedish version, you fools) and that by far is the best vampire movie I’ve seen. None of this sparkly vampire bull crap.

I’m not sponsoring the Twilight movies, nor the 2nd or 3rd book, but purely the music. Enjoy!
